PACS & DICOM Migration & Architecture

Design, migration, and integration of PACS and DICOM networking — planned and executed by engineers who have sat in the reading room, serving health systems and imaging centers nationwide.

Migrations fail on the details, not the plan

Most PACS migrations don't fail because of a bad project plan — they fail because of the cross-vendor association quirks, transfer syntax mismatches, and edge-case study types nobody accounted for until cutover weekend. We do the unglamorous work upfront: auditing your current DICOM conformance statements, mapping every modality and gateway in the network, and testing the failure paths before they become a Monday-morning outage.

What we do

  • Pre-migration architecture review — inventory of PACS, VNA, modalities, and RIS/HL7 touchpoints, with a gap analysis against your target state.
  • DICOM networking & routing — gateway and router configuration for cross-vendor association negotiation, transcoding, and compression handling.
  • Cutover planning & rehearsal — staged migration runbooks, rollback plans, and dry runs against production-representative data.
  • Post go-live support — hypercare coverage and monitoring while the new environment absorbs real clinical volume.
Typical engagement: a phased migration for a multi-site health system moving from a legacy PACS to a modern VNA-backed platform, with zero unplanned reading-room downtime during cutover.

Why an independent consultant

Vendors sell their own roadmap. We don't sell software — we sell judgment. That means the migration plan is built around what's actually right for your imaging volume, your IT staffing, and your compliance obligations, not around a licensing quota.
